Varam is a town in the southern state of Kerala. It is a census town which is located in the Kannur district. The town has a population of almost 15,000 inhabitants and boasts a very high rate of literacy. Located on the Kannur-Mysore stretch, Varam is well connected to Karnataka. Over 75% of the male working population is employed outside the agricultural sector and the town does not have a determined municipal entity.

The nearby Kannur Railway station is one of the major stations in Southern India. Daily trains head towards Trivandrum while express trains lead to Bangalore (318 km).
