Viralimalai is a small town in Tamil Nadu situated 30 km from Tiruchirappalli (Trichy) It is famous for the Murugan temple and the Peacock sanctuary. The name Viralimalai comes from the Tamil word ‘Viravi’. History has it that many yogis and saints lived in this town in the avatar of Kura trees. They worshipped Lord Muruga. That is how ‘Viralimalai’ was coined.
