The city of Bhmavaram is located in the Godavari District, in the state of Andhra Pradesh. It is located 395 km east of the capital of Hyderabad. It is also located close to Vishakapatnam and Vijayawada located at a distance of 270 km and 103 km from this city respectively.

The place has numerous temples dedicated to different Gods and Goddesses. Some of the most popular ones are: Gunupudi Sri Uma Someshwara Janardhana Swamy Temple. It is one of the five Pancharamas. It was built during the 3rd century A.D. The Shivalinga in the temple is believed to assume a black-cum-brown colour on no-moon day and becomes whitish on full-moon day.
Sri Mavullamma Temple is another sacred place for the Hindus. It is considered to be the Goddess of Bhimavaram. Â Sri Bhimeshwara Swamy Temple is also another holy place for the Hindu devotees. The name of the Bhimavaram town is derived from it.
Sri Aadhi Lakshmi Ammavaru Temple is located close to the city and is the village deity of Gunupudi. Sri Subrahmanyeswaraswamy Temple is the temple of Lord Subrahmanyeswara, Lord Siva and Lord Rama. It is a beautiful spot and devotees throng this place every year in thousands. Sri Panchamukhi Anjaneya Swamy Temple is located in Undi Road near Railway gate. There is also a Jain Temple located at Pedda Amiram. This is a holy place for the Jains and Hindus alike.
