Calicut is a city in the southern state of Kerala. It is the headquarters of the Kozhikode district on the Malabar Coast. It was famous for its spices in the middle ages as it was the main exporter of spices to a number of other places and hence it had been dubbed as the “city of spices”.

The Calicut Beach has got historical significance as a number of epic battles were fought here and a number of visitors from foreing lands landed here. It’s beautiful and despite being a popular spot for visitors is well maintained.
Veliyangadi (Big Bazaar):
This is one of the main commercial center of the city and it is also very old.
Mananchira
Mananchira located in the heart of the city is a large tank and it had been the water source for the palace complex surrounding it.
SM Street
It is a commercial street near Mananchira square and is famous for the Halwa shops.
Tali Siva Temple
It is one of the two brahmanical royal temples in Calicut.
Kappad Beach
This beach is located 16 km north of Calicut and it also has an ancient temple on a hillock.

HOW TO REACH THERE:
Road:
The city has well developed road infrastructure running to a number of places over Kerala and other cities of Southern India. Buses are run by private owners as well as by the Kerala state Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC).
Railways:
Calicut is well connected by railways to Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Coimbatore, Chennai to the south and Mangalore, Mumbai, New Delhi to the north. Trains run on a regular basis to these places from Calicut.
Air:
Calicut International Airport is located only 22 km from the main city center. There are regular flights connecting Calicut to other major places.
