Chidambaram is a city in the southern state of Tamil Nadu. It is in the district of Cuddalore and is a very fast growing industrial hub. The city is a major pilgrimage site for Shaivites and Vaishnavites. In AD 907, Chidambaram became the capital of the Chola Empire. They commissioned the construction of the grand Nataraja temple, later enlarged and embellished by them.
