Cuddalore is a city in the Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu. It is a fast developing industrial city and it lies off the coast of the Bay of Bengal. Cuddalore is known for its picturesque beaches, particularly Silver Beach.

Pichavaram is a mangrove forest which is considered as being among the healthiest mangrove occurrence in the world. There are a vast number of islands spread over a vast expense of water which are covered in green trees. There are also boating facilities which attracts a lot of tourists throughout the year.
In Vadalur, Â Ramalinga Swamigal popularly called as Vallalar had established Sathyagnana Sabai. The “Thai Poosam” function in December-January is a famous festival of this place.
Srimushnam is a famous pilgrimage place. There is a Vishnu Sthalam here which attracts a lot of devotees to this place.
The Cuddalore port is an important tourist destination. It is a picturesque beach where one can enjoy the vast expanse of the seas. The Cuddalore Port is situated in Lat.110 43 N. Long. 79049’ east at the confluence of the rivers Gadilam and Paravanar. The silver beach here attracts a number of tourists
There are also a number of pilgrimage spots here in Cuddalore. The Nataraj temple and the Padaleeswarar temple are the most sacred places here. The Devanatha swami temple and the Bhuvaraha Swami temple are also the major places of worship for the Hindus.

Roads:
Cuddalore is connected to other parts of Tamil Nadu through a very good road network. Frequent buses run to nearby towns like Puducherry (Pondicherry), Chidambaram, Panruti, Tindivanam and Villupuram. Buses to major cities of Tamil Nadu such as Chennai, Tiruchirapalli, Salem, Tiruvannamalai are also available from Cuddalore. One can also take their car and travel to Cuddalore.
Railways
Cuddalore has two railway stations, Thirupadirippuliyur and Cuddalore Port Junction. Thirupadirippuliyur railway station is located in the Cuddalore new town and there are trains to all the major places of India.
Air:
The nearest airport is the Chennai International airport located at a distance of 200 km from Cuddalore. Tourists can take a bus or a cab to travel to the airport or reach Cuddalore from the airport.
