In the south Indian state of Karnataka there is a small town known as Dharwad or Dharwar. Dharwad forms the administrative headquarters of the Dharwad district. It is renowned for its ancient culture, classical music, literature as well as its educational institutions. This peaceful and pleasant city is one of the rapidly developing cities in Karnataka. Temple of Mylaralinga: This temple that dates back to the 12th century has been built using the Chalukya style of architecture.  This temple has several beautifully carved stone pillars. The shrine of ‘Mylaralinga Gudda’ that lies on the hill top is visited by several ardent devotees at all times of the year. This temple is unique because of the fact that the deity inside the temple receives the first ray of sunlight in Dharwad.
Unkal Lake: The Unkal Lake is one of the favourite tourist destinations. This lake provides an enchanting view of the sunset. The cool evening breeze is very relaxing and rejuvenating. It is believed that the water body is about 110 years old. There is a statue of Swami Vivekananda at the centre of the lake that is quite a sight to behold.
Nrupatunga Betta: The twin cities of Dharwad and Hubli can be viewed from this places. It is a beautiful tourist spot. People come here for morning walks and this place has become the focal point of real-estate and construction activity.
Dattatreya Temple: This temple that is dedicated to Lord Dattatreya who is believed to be an incarnation of Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh. This temple which is also popularly known as Dattana Gidu is visited by people from different places who come here to offer prayers.
Someshwara Temple : this temple is one of the oldest temples of Dharwad and dates back to the 12th century. It houses the stupas of Mahisha Mardini and Chaturbhuja Ganapati which is the main attraction of this temple.
