Durgapur

Durgapur is a city in the state of West Bengal. It is one of the fastest developing cities in eastern India. The city is famous mainly because of the Durgapur Steel Plant and the Alloy steel plant. The city has a number of educational institutions and also nowadays a number of malls are coming up in this city. The city is moving very fast in the path of development.

Places of tourist interest:

Bhabani Pathak’s Tilla is a fort having an unbelievable network of tunnels starting from the city center up to the Damodar River. This place is made famous in the novel by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay.

One can also pay a visit to the Rahreswar Shibtola. This temple is more than 800 years old and is built in the style of Rathas of Southern India.

Garh Jungle is another place of tourist interest in Durgapur. One fond of adventure can pay a visit to this place and can engage in jungle safaris.

It is the heart of the city of Durgapur. There are numerous shopping malls and arcades distributed over the place. Nowadays cineplexes and multiplexes have also been built in this area making it the perfect hanging place for all groups of people.

How to get there:

It is very easy to reach Durgapur either by train or by road. It is connected by the grand trunk road to a number of places in India. There is train connectivity from this place to all major Indian towns and cities. There are trains running from Durgapur to all major places at regular intervals on a daily basis.

There is a fully fledged domestic airport coming up at Durgapur in the recent years.
