In the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, there is a popular district called Dharmapuri. This district was established in the year 1965 and is renowned for its mango farming. TOURIST PLACES
Hogenakkal Falls: This waterfall that lies at a distance of around 46 km from Dharmapuri as one of the favourite tourist destinations. This falls has derived its name from ‘Hogenakal’ which in Kannada means Smoky Rocks. Hogenakkal Falls is also referred to as the Grand Canyon of India owing to its captivating landscapes and the lush greenery.
Theerthamalai temple: This temple lies at the top of hillock and is believed to have been constructed by the donations given by the Chola and Vijayanagara kings. Several Hindu pilgrims visit this temple to pay homage especially during the Maha Shivaratri festival.
Subramanya Siva Memorial: This memorial has been established in memory of one of the famous revolutionary independence fighter, Subramanya Siva. He had inspired many young men to join the freedom movement.
Hanumanthathirtham: This place is situated on the bank of Pennaiyar and is traditionally associated with Tirtamalai. Hence is visited by several Hindu pilgrims.
Sir Thomas Munro Pillar: This pillar has been constructed to mark the association of Dharmapuri with Sir Thomas Munro. Tourists from different places come here to witness this structure.
Mount Carmel church: This church is renowned for its Grotto festival. Lakhs of Christians flock to this church to seek the blessing of Our Lady of Lourdes.
