Gorakhpur is a state in the state of Uttar Pradesh. It is located in the northern most part of the state near the Indo-Nepal border. It is a religious place with a number of temples and other religious places distributed in and around the city. The city got its name from the Gorakhnath Temple which is the major tourist attraction here.

Gorakhnath temple
This temple is the chief tourist attraction of Gorakhpur. It is the temple from where the city of Gorakhpur got its name.
Leela Chitra Mandir, Geeta Press
This place has a number of pictures of Lord Rama and Krishna. This hall is situated in the premises of the Geeta press.
Geeta Vatika
Geeta Vatika has a magnificent temple of Sri Radha Krishna. This is a sacred place for the Hindus where number of devotees comes every year to offer their prayers.
Vishnu Mandir
This is a very old temple built in the 12th century with a large idol of Lord Vishnu.
Arogya Mandir
This temple was built in the 1960s located near to the city at a distance of about 2 km from Gorakhpur.
Buddha Museum
It was established on the banks of the Ramgarh lake. It was constructed in 1987.

There is an extensive network of roads connecting Gorakhpur to all the places in the state as well as to other major Indian towns and cities.
