Ramnagar

Ramnagar is a municipal town located in the district of Nainital in the North Indian state of Uttarakhand. It forms the headquarters of the district. Ramnagar has been named after the Ramagiri Hills of the region. Ramnagar houses the oldest National park, the Jim Corbett National Park. This is one of the most famous tourist destinations in India owing to its enchanting scenic beauty.

PLACES TO VISIT:

RAMNAGAR FORT: This fort is situated on the banks of the Ganges and has been constructed from red sandstone. This fort houses a temple that is dedicated to Ved Vyasa who wrote the Hindu epic Mahabharata. It is believed that this temple was his abode for a long time. This fort also has a museum that has a collection of antique coins, swords, clocks, sculptures and other valuables that leaves the tourists captivated. People also visit this place to see a unique clock that displays facts of the constellations together with giving time.

JIM CORBETT NATIONAL PARK: this park was built in the year 1936 and is one of the oldest parks of the Indian subcontinent. This park has been named after Jim Corbett, an author, photographer and also a naturalist. One can take their vehicles inside and observe the different falls, museum, and other places of interest inside the park. This park serves to attract a lot of tourists during all times of the year

GARJIYA DEVI TEMPLE: this temple is located on the Kosi River about 14 km form Ramnagar. Garjiya Maa is the presiding deity of this temple. This temple allures a lot of ardent devotees who visit this temple to offer prayers and seek blessings. During the Karthik Purnima this temple sees maximum tourists due to the fair that is organized at this place.

SEETA BANI TEMPLE: This temple located about 20km from Ramnagar is a holy place for the Hindus as it is believed that Devi Sita had entered into the Mother Earth from this very place. As a result a temple has been constructed here in memory of Sita Devi.

RAMESHWARA AND SRI RAMA TEMPLES: this temple is situated at the hills and was earlier referred to as the Thryambakeshwar temple. This temple has lots of visitors coming to offer prayers to Lord Rama and is one of the main tourist attractions of the place.
