Rayadurg is a municipal town located in Anantapur district of the South Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It forms the taluk headquarters of the region. Rayadurg is known for the Raidurga Fort which played an important part during the reign of the Vijaynagar empire. This place has an amalgamation of people belonging to different caste, creed and religion. Rayadurg silk and cotton sarees are very famous and this place houses the biggest garment industry in South India. This is one of the most frequently visited tourist places owing to the innumerable temples and forts.
PLACES OF INTEREST:
RAYADURG FORT: It is one of the favourite tourist destinations. Raidurga which means “King’s Hill Fortress” is situated about 130km from Anantapur. This fort is said to have been constructed by the then reigning Vijaynagar kings. Some of the popular temples of the region ‘Narashimhaswamy’, ‘Elamma’, is placed within the premises of the fort and has lots of ardent devotees visiting it.
TOWER CLOCK: This tower clock stands witness to the olden times and is often visited by the tourists. The panoramic view of the clock from the road is worth watching.
BELLARY CHILDREN’S PARK-CUM-ZOO: here people can come with their kids and have a gala time watching some rare species of animals and birds. The tranquil environment and the lush green gardens make this place worth a visit especially for the tourist.

Rayadurg is a shopper’s delight. The handlooms and the silk sarees of this place are very popular. Ladies can shop for as many silk sarees as possible.
