Shimoga is a city situated in the district of Shimoga in the South Indian state of Karnataka. It forms the headquarters of the administrative department of the district. It lies on the banks of the river Tunga. According to ancient belief this place had been the Ashram of Durvasa who used to boil herbs in an earthern pot hence the place got its name. Shimoga has got its name from “Sihi-Moge” which literally means Sweet Pod.

KUPPALLI: This place is known for its historic Kavishaila and Kavimane.
KAVALEDURGA: It is located 80 km from Shimoga and is a famous Trekking point for all the people interested in Trekking and other outdoor activities.
