Shirdi

Shirdi is a small town located at the Rahata Tahasil of the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is located in the Ahmednagar district and is about 83 km from that region.  This place has been the abode of the Hindu Guru Shirdi Sai Baba. Hence is also known as the Land of Sai. This place is about 296 km from the capital city Mumbai. This place is often visited by Hindus from all across the Globe due to the fact that it had been the home of the Hindu Sage. PLACES TO VISIT:

SAMADHI MANDIR: here the visitors can witness the Idol of Baba that has been built of Italian marble by Late Balaji Vasant in 1954.This has been decorated with ornaments and is of great beauty. As of now Nagour, a devotee of Baba and also a millionaire owns this place.

KHANDOBA MANDIR: It is believed that Baba himself had set foot on this place and hence is considered to be very pious by the Hindus and other ardent devotees of Baba. The presiding deity is Khandoba hence the place has got its name.

HOUSE OF LAXMIBAI SHINDE: It is believed that Baba had made Laxmibai Shinde know about characteristics of the good disciple in this place

GURUSTHAN: This is the place where people could witness Baba who was only 16 then for the first time. The Neem tree of the region is popular amongst all. The devotees’ burn incense sticks in ‘Sai Sat-Charitra’ to relieve themselves of ailments. There is a shrine of baba which is visited by his ardent devotees.

THE DIXIT WADA MUSEUM: It is museum housing Babas attire, his photographs and all the items that had been used by is located at the center of the Sansthan complex. It is a charming and compact museum.

CHAVADI: It is believed that Baba spent alternate nights here during his last years. Hence this place is considered to be sacred by his devotees.

SHOPPING:

This is a Shopping Paradise for all of Babas ardent devotees. Various kind of effigies and photos of baba can be found in different shops at reasonable prices. One can also take home the books, posters and souvenirs of Sai Baba. These books mostly contain the story of Babas life and are often bought by people visiting Shirdi.
