Surathkal, a name that has originated from the word Shiratkal or Shiradakal literally meaning ‘headstone’ in Kannada is a name of a city at a distance of about 20 km from the Mangalore City. This city is located at the region under the Mangalore City Corporation of Dakshina Kannada district Karnataka, India. Geographically this city is at a height of 24 meters besides the Arabian Sea.
