VAITHEESVARAN KOIL
Vaitheesvaran Koil is a small town in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Situated in the northern side of the Kaveri River, it is a railway station of Madras-Mayavaram. It is located about 27km from Chidambaram. The place derives its name from the Hindu temple Vaitheesvaran which is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The people of the region are of the belief that Lord Vaitheesvaran as lord Shiva is commonly called can cure diseases hence they worship him as the “God of Medicine”.
This place is known by important shrines like lalayapuri, Vedapuri, Panarapuri amongst others. The most popular of all the Shrines is the Vaitheesvaran Koil as god cured Angakara of his leprosy by taking the form Vaidya.
FAMOUS TOURISTS ATTRACTIONS:
There are several temples in this place. The magnificent temples with its sculptured walls are the centre of attraction of this place. There are two massive towers on the western and eastern side of the temple. On the rear side is a smaller tower. Separating the main inner corridors of the deities are two large corridors. The Vaidyanatha Eswarar and the Tayyalnayaki Devi are the main deities of worship in this place. One will be able to see two pillars made of gold and silver as one enters the place from the western side.

COMMUNCATION:
One can reach Vaitheesvaran Koil either by means of train or by bus. If one wishes to come via Chennai, One can take the Cholan express which will take you directly to Vaitheesvaran Koil. People can also take any train from Coimbatore or Madurai that will take to Mayiladuthurai which is only about 14km from Vaitheesvaran Koil. If the travelers wish to take the bus route they can opt for buses from some near-by places like Kumbakonam and Chidambaram,
