Veerapandi

There is a small town in the Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu, India called Veerapandi.  This town is famous for the Mariamman temple which is visited by people from different places. People come here to offer prayers to the presiding deity and to get rid of their sins. During the Tamil month of Vaikaasi a yearly car festival is held here in this  town. This town houses an amalgamation of people belonging to different caste, creed and religion. Majority  of the people in this town are educated. There are several places worth visiting in and around Veerapandi. Some of the places are as follows:

PLACES WORTH VISITING:

Anamalai Wildlife Sanctuary: this sanctuary that lies at an altitude of 1,400 meters on the Western Ghats has been named after the first woman Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi. One can find rare species of wild animals in this sanctuary ranging from bulbul, spotted done, green pigeon, bulbul, spotted done, green pigeon among others.

Avanashi Temple: This temple dates back to the 12th century and is also the biggest temple of the district. One can find several sculptures and carvings on this temple that is quite a sight to behold.

Coonoor: This hill station which is about 71 Km from Coimbatore is flocked by several tourists at all times of the year owing to its scenic beauty, the lush greenery and the captivating mountains.

Amaravathy Reservoir: this reservoir lies in the Anamalai hills and is the abode of several crocodiles. One will be able to see these crocodiles at close proximity from this reservoir.

Bannari: This place houses the Mariamman temple and is flocked by large number of devotees who visit this temple to pay homage to the Gods.

Bhavani: This place is also popularly known as the Triveni of South India. It is one of the pilgrim centres and has the famous temple of Sangameshwarer. Lord Sangameshwarer is the presiding deity of this temple. This temple is visited by people from different regions who come here to pray.
