Viluppuram also referred to as Villupuram is a municipal town located in the Villupuram District, of the south Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is the headquarters of Villupuram District. The main occupation of the people in the region is agriculture hence majority of the population are illiterate. It is located about 148 km from the capital city Chennai. There are a total of 1117 village and 23 taluks in this region. Vellore, Kanchipuram, Ariyalur are some of the near-by cities of the village. This place houses one of the major railway stations of the state and national highway 45 too runs through Villupuram

GINGEE FORT: This fort is situated in the Gingee town and lies nestled amongst several hills and volcanic rocks. The picturesque landscapes of the hills with its solitary land attract many tourists to this fort. The surrounding embankment of the fort is about 60feet thick and encircles the entire space. This fort has been there since time immemorial and was used by several rulers of India during their reign.
KALVARAYAN HILLS: The tourists can go for trekking in these hills. It is one of the main tourist attractions and lies at the Eastern Ghats. It separates the Kaveri river form the Palar River and covers an area of 1095km. this is one of the major tourist attractions of the place.

ANNIYUR RAMANATHEESWARAR TEMPLE: The presiding deity of the temple is Ramanatheeswarar and is visited by tourists who offer prayers and is enchanted by the scenic beauty of the temple.
PARIKAL NARASHIMAR TEMPLE: The presiding deity of this temple is Lakshmi Narasimha. There is a well called Naga Koopam inside the temple and ardent devotees flock here to bathe in the water so as to get rid of the ailments. Brahmotsavam is the main festival celebrated here.
