During the early part of the period which is known as Kaliyuga, severe times draught took place. Rain did not visit this place for several years. Goddess Durga told the Nandni to flow as a river but convinced that The Goddess will take birth as her daughter in the center of the river. This way Nandini will be free from the curse.
