The city Muktsar (also known as Muktsar Sahib) is in Punjab. It is a very important place of pilgrimage for Sikh devotees. Muktsar used to be known as ‘Khidrana.’ Muktsar can be translated to mean ‘pool of liberation.’ This city is of historical importance and it is believed to be the place where Guru Gobind Singhji fought his last battle. 40 Sikh warriors had battled to death against the Mughals in 1705 AD.

This animal fair is also popularly known as ‘Ghorhian Da Mela.’

Tourist attractions in and around Muktsar include Tuti Gandi Gurudwara Sahib, Gurudawara Rakab sar, Tibbi Sahib and Gurudwara Taran Taran Sahib. The Angooran Wali Masjid (mosque) near the railway station is known for its beautiful architecture.
