Known to be a city located in Sirohi district of Rajasthan, Abu Road was earlier referred as Kharadi. This small city lies southeast of Mount Abu. The famous Mount Abu is approximately 27 km away from Abu Road. The main road that connects to Mount Abu was built in 1845 during the time when Maharao Shiv Singh of Sirohi was the ruler of the state.
