Ajmer

Ajmer is a popular pilgrimage centre for its shrine of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti. Ajmer was founded in the late 7th century A.D. by Ajayraj Singh Chauhan of Chauhan dynasty. Ajmer has evolved as a manufacturing and trade centre for cotton, woollen textiles, leather, shoes, hosiery, and pharmaceutical products. Poultry is a major source of livelihood for farmers here. In 1751, Seshmalji founded Sayla and announced it as the capital of his state. It is said that Seshmalji fought a battle with the Kathi Darbars and captured Sayla.
