About Akot

Akot

Akot is the name of a city in the western Indian state of Maharashtra.The place was witness to the second Anglo-Maratha War when forces owing allegiances to Governor Arthur Wellesley and Bhonsle of Nagpur fought in the Battle of Argaon. Akot also happens to be a municipal corporation. The city has a rich mix of Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists, Christians and Jains.

Ghatkopar

Ghatkopar is a beautiful suburban area of eastern Mumbai in Maharashtra. It is also a railway station owned by Central Railway line of the Mumbai suburban railway. Ghatkopar is the corner of the Western Ghats, hence in Marathi ‘Kopara’ means corner and ‘Ghat’ means small hills, therefore giving the place its name ‘Ghatkopar’. Urban legend has it that it got its name when locals gave out directions they referred to this area as ‘ghat ke uppar’ (above the hills).
