A taluk in Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu, Ambasamudram, is located on the foothills of the Western Ghats. It is situated on the banks of River Thamirabarani. This small picturesque town is also known by the name of Vilankurichi. The name of the place is derived from the two words Amba and Samundar.
