Ashta is a small village in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. It is a part of the Sehore district of the Bhopal division. It lies in the midst of an interesting triangle comprising Bhopal, Indore and Ujjain. It lies exactly midway between the cities of Ujjain and Indore. A town in southern Maharashtra, Miraj is believed to have been founded in the early 10th century. An important junction, Miraj was ruled by the Pathwardhan family until the Independence.
