Bagalkot, also known as Bagalkote, is a small town in the South Indian state of Karnataka and also happens to be the headquarters of the Bagalkot district. Legend has it that the Lankan king Ravana gifted the town to a band of musicians called Bajantries. Formerly, the town was called Bagadige.
