About Devaliya

Devaliya

Devaliya is a small village in the westernmost Indian state of Gujarat. It is a part of the Kachchh district in the Kutch region. The village is also known as Devaria or Deoria. It is said that the village is one among the series of nine other villages founded by Kutch Gurjar Kshatriyas or Mistris. As the British laid railway lines in the 1850-1930 period, many Mistris moved out and turned out to be big railway contractors. The nearest major urban agglomerations are Bhuj at a distance of 52 km north-east, and Gandhidham at a distance of 17 km.
