About Boriguma


The name Boriguma has been derived from the words 'bori' which means a fruit and 'gumma' which means high land. The town of Boriguma has been named after a tall ‘boro koli’ tree which was once located in the centre of the town. Perched at an elevation of 559 m above sea-level, Boriguma is a Tehsil headquarter. Located in the Koraput district of Odisha, Boriguma happens to be the largest block in Odisha. There are numerous temples scattered in and around Boriguma. Nabarangapur, Jeypur , Koraput and Sunabeda are cities that are near Boriguma.

Places to Stay
The number of hotels in Boriguma is limited. So, many visitors look for lodging in the neighbouring towns of Dhanapur and Khadapa. The tariff for the hotels there can only be obtained in person.

The offiicial language of Boriguma is Oriya. Hindi and English are also spoken here.

Durga Puja is very popular here and is celebrated with great fervour in the month of October.

Places of Interest
Gupteshwar (78 km from Boriguma), Bhairab Temple (in Boriguma) and Jagannath Temple (in Boriguma) are frequented by tourists. 

How to Get There


The nearest airport is located at Vishakhapatnam which is approximately 182 km away.


Dhanapur and Khadapa, both 13 km away are the nearest railway stations. However, the Vishakhapatnam Junction which is 182 km away is the nearest major railway station.


Boriguma has a bus stand of its own from where buses that connect to places like Hyderabad and Vishakhapatnam can be caught. Do away with standing in ticket counters and opt for online bus reservation facility instead
