Chatra, situated in the northernmost part of Jharkhand, is considered to be the gateway of this tribal state. This town boasts of a long history beginning at the time of Ashoka’s reign. It lies on the Hazaribag plateau and is 101 km from the state capital Ranchi. It is famous for its many temples, thick forests with a variety of medicinal plants, tendu leaves and abundant wildlife which makes for a popular destination for visitors.
