Chikkamagalur, the coffee estate land is a city in Chikkamagalur district of Karnataka at the foothills of Mullayanagiri, the highest peak in Karnataka. It is located 60 km from Hassan and 150 km from Mangalore. The name Chikkamagalur means “younger daughter’s town”. This region is covered with hilly areas and receives heavy rainfall. The first ever coffee plant brought from West Asia by a Muslim saint Baba Budan was grown here; and a mountain has been named after him (Baba Budangiri).
