Maksi

Maksi is a small municipality in the Shajapur district of Madhya Pradesh. Maksi is most famous for the Jain temple Shri Makshi Parshvanath, the 23 thirthankar of Jainism. The small town has a population of 98,392 with an average literacy rate of 63%. Maksi is generally known as a pilgrimage town and was formerly a part of the Gwalior state. However, soon after independence it became part of Madhya Bharat and was then merged into Madhya Pradesh.
