About Dohrighat


A city in the Mau district of Uttar Pradesh, Dohrighat is situated almost 300 km away from state capital Lucknow. In Hindu mythology, Dohrighat is believed to be the place where Lord Shiva and Lord Rama met. Dohrighat has derived its name from two words ‘Do’ and ‘Hari’ which are the two avatars of Vishnu and ‘ghat’ meaning place. It has also engraved its name in the pages of history when Mahatama Gandhi visited during the movement against the British Raj.
