About Dwarka


Dwarka is a town at the tip of the westernmost Indian state of Gujarat. It is one of the most important sites of Hindu pilgrimage and was a part of the Dwaraka kingdom, ruled over by lord Krishna. The town is coastal in terms of geography and comes within the Devbhoomi Dwarka district in the Kathiawar peninsula. The nearest major urban agglomeration is the city of Jamnagar at a distance of 131 km east of the town.

Some of the places which are worth visiting while in Dwarka are Dwarakadheesh Temple and the coast. However, Jamnagar city has plenty of options to offer such as Darbargarh Palace, Lakhota Fort, Willingdon Crescent, Bohra Hajira and Bala Hanuman Temple among others.

How to Get There

The closest major airport is the Jamnagar Airport in Govardhanpur at a distance of 127 km.

The town has its own railway station. Other than that, the Jamnagar Railway Station is another major railway hub at a distance of 134 km.

Mostly it is the state-run buses which cater to the needs of the villagers. Buses to the village are available from places like Jamnagar and Junagadh. There are quite a few online bus booking sites from where you can book your tickets to anywhere in India.
