About Gudalur

Gudalur

Gudalur is a part of Tamil Nadu and is basically a panchayat town and taluk situated in Nilgiris district. It is situated 52 km from Ooty and 112 km from Mysore. The name of the valley comes from two Tamil words – ‘koodal’ and ‘ooru’, which combine to form Gudalur, meaning ‘meeting place’. The place is known for its tree plantations which are not only a beautiful sight for tourists but are also responsible for upholding the regional economy of the valley.
