Jorhat is an important city in Assam. It is about 470 km away from Guwahati and is on NH 37. It is very important to the Indian tea industry and has many beautiful tea gardens which make it very popular among tourists. Jorhat was the capital of the infamous Ahom Kingdom. It has been home to many artists, musicians, historians, writers and actors which is why it has been called ‘the Cultural Capital of Assam.’ Jorhat has a good number of colleges and universities.
