A municipal town in Thrissur district of Kerala, Irinjalakuda is located on State Highway 22 (Kerala), which is connected to major national highways NH 47 and NH 17. Two main roads – the State Highway 22 and State Highway 61 intersects at this town. Irinjalakuda, which is one of the oldest municipalities in Kerala, houses the famous Koodalmanikyam Temple. This is the only temple in the country dedicated to the worship of Bharata, the second brother of Rama.
