About Jalore

Jalore

Jalore is a small municipality in Rajasthan and serves as the administrative headquarters of the Jalore district. It was earlier known as Jabalipura-named after a saint Maharishi Jabali. It is famously known for the Jalore fort, which served as a safe keep for the treasures of its erstwhile rulers. It is also called the granite city of Rajasthan.

There are several places of tourist attraction in Jalore including Jalore fort, Malik Shah’s mosque, Modra Mata Mandir, Jain temples of Adinath, Mahavira, Parsvanath, and Santinath-built in the 8th century. Mount Abu is also close by.  Topekhana- once a cannon foundry, is a major attraction. A Heritage Haveli, about 18 km from Jalore is also an interesting place to visit.

Air:
The nearest airport to Jalore is in Jodhpur, with frequent flights to Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, and Udaipur.

Rail:
The Jalore Railway Station is situated on the Raniwara- Samdari train route. The nearest major Railway station is the Jodhpur Railway Station.

About Siwana

Siwana

Known for its fort, Siwana is a beautiful town surrounded by the Aravali Ranges in Rajasthan’s Barmer district. Situated atop a hill, Fort Siwana or Gadh (meaning fort) Siwana was built by the Rajput ruler, Raja Bhoj’s son Veernarayan. There is a beautiful pond at the fort which is worth visiting. This town is also known for its fine granite. The fair held at the fort in July-August attracts a huge number of people from near and far.

Siwana might not have good accommodation facilities, but Jalore, which is 45 km away, has numerous budget hotels like Hotel City Palace (Tariff –Rs. 1,000), Hotel Amar (Tariff –Rs.900) and Raghu Ratan Palace (Tariff –Rs.800).

Rajasthani and Hindi are mostly spoken in the town.

Events
Kalyan Singh Ka Mela held in July-August at the Siwana Fort is a major event of the town.

Apart from Fort Siwana, Meli Bandh Dam is worth visiting within the town. Other attractions in the area are Baba Ramdev temple, Haldeshwar temple and Bheem Goda temple.

Air:
Jodhpur Airport, which is 115 km away, is the nearest from the town.

Rail:
The major rail head connecting this town is in Jodhpur, which is 113 km from here. However, Moklarsar railway station which is 11 km from here is the nearest.

Bus:
