Situated on the State Highway connecting Ahmednagar to Beed, Jamkhed is 78 km from Ahmednagar. At a distance of 22 km from Jamkhed lies a small village called Kharda which has the fort of the great king Shivaji Maharaj and Rajmata Jijau. Jamkhed has many schools. The place has to its credit the Comprehensive Rural Health Project that was started by two doctors in 1970.
