About Jhalrapatan


Jhalrapatan is a town in the Jhalawar district of Rajasthan. Jhalrapatan roughly translates as ‘the city of bells’; it is also known as ‘the city of temples’. Some attribute its name to the tribe Jhala-a regent of Jalim Singh. The ruins of the city cover a major area of the city. Several ancient and valuable coins have been found in the ruins, confirming the antiquity of the place.
