Kalamassery

Kalamassery is a suburb of Kochi, an urban hub in the South Indian state of Kerala. Thiruvalla is the largest town in the Pathanamthitta district of Kerala. Well known as the temple town, it is renowned for its religious monuments, numerous temples and history. It also is the key to the gate of Sabarimala. Numerous pilgrims visit Thiruvalla during the festive season and the small town beams with the festive mood and festivals.

The five-day youth festival of Mahatma Gandhi University Union, named as Sargodayam-2012’, hosted in Thiruvalla from February 29 to March 4 which consists of local music , dance, singing and all kind of cultural activities. Thiruvalla hosts the Onam festival every year consisting of grand elephants and a great meal.

The official language of Thiruvalla is malayalam. English is also spoken to some extent.

The nearest airport is the Kochi airport which is around 86 kms away from the city of thiruvalla.
