About Kanigiri

Kanigiri

The town of Kanigiri in Andhra Pradesh holds tremendous historical significance. The word Kanigiri is composed of two Sanskrit words namely Kani, which means 'to see' and Giri meaning 'hill'. Located close to the coast of the Bay of Bengal, it was once the capital city of the kingdom ruled by Katama Raju. Surrounded by the Eastern Ghats, Kanigiri was once called Kanakapatnam.
