Kapu a small town in the Udupi district of Karnataka is a coastal town that consists of four villages. 13kms south of Udupi, Kaup, which is pronounced as Kapu, is famous for its lighthouse and the three Goddess Durga temples and a fort built by Tippu Sultan. The town lies between Udupi and Mangalore on National Highway 66. Scenic on the shores of the Arabian Sea, many films have been shot at Kapu. The sunrise and sunset in the backdrop of light house at Kapu is one of the main attractions of the place.

Events/festivals
The Kaup Beach Ustava attracts a lot of tourists for its sand art. The annual 'Ati Mari Puje’ festival at the historically famous temple of Goddess Mariyamma is usually thronged by thousands of devotees all over the state and even neighbouring states.

Language
The language predominantly spoken in this town is Kannada.

Places to visit
Other than the lighthouse and the Tipu Sultan fort the temples around the area includes Anegudde, Anegudde Vinayaka Temple and the Lord Kotilingeshwara Temple, which is loacetd about 1-2kms from the bus stand. Neighbouring town Udupi has a lot more tourist places of interest.

Koppal is a newly formed district in the state of Karnataka in Bangalore which was carved from Raichur in the year 1998. Koppal is surrounded by Raichur in the east, Gadag in the west and Bellary in the south. The district headquarters is located near Hampi, at a distance of 44 km east.

Paryushan Parva, which is celebrated from September 10-19, is a Jain festival and celebrated with fasting and meditation. Onam is celebrated in mid-September.
