Kapu a small town in the Udupi district of Karnataka is a coastal town that consists of four villages. 13kms south of Udupi, Kaup, which is pronounced as Kapu, is famous for its lighthouse and the three Goddess Durga temples and a fort built by Tippu Sultan. The town lies between Udupi and Mangalore on National Highway 66. Scenic on the shores of the Arabian Sea, many films have been shot at Kapu. The sunrise and sunset in the backdrop of light house at Kapu is one of the main attractions of the place.
