Karaikudi

Known to be the largest town in in Sivaganga District of Tamil Nadu, Karaikudi is a name derived from a plant’s name called kara, which is widely found abundance in this area , while Kudi meaning settlement. This region is commonly referred as Chettinad  Karaikudi.   Majority of the population in this town belongs to the Chettiar community  and they have been instrumental for the development of this town.
