About Kasargod

Kasargod

Named after Kasaragod Town, Kasargod, the northernmost district of Kerala is famous across the world for its coir and handloom industries. With a coastline of nearly 30kms, Kasargod is endowed with nine rivers and is well-known for its forts, rivers, hillocks, beaches and shrines. NH-66, which forms the backbone of Kerala’s road network enters Kerala via Talapady of Kasargod district.

As many as seven different languages are spoken here excluding the local dialects and tribal languages. The languages spoken include Malayalam, Kannada, Tulu, Beary bashe (spoken by the Tuluva-Malayalee Muslims) and Konkani. Besides these, Marathi, Hindi, Havyaka Kannada and Urdu are also spoken here.

Places to visit
The places to see near this scenic beach town are the Bekal Fort, the biggest fort in Kerala (15kms), the Ananthapura Lake Temple, the Mallikarjuna Temple. The Mallik Deenar Mosque (3kms) is one of the first masjids in India built during the period of the prophet Muhammad by swahabi 'Malik-ibn-Deenar'. The Bela Church, built in 1890, also known as Our Lady of Sorrows Church, is located 14kms north of Kasaragod.

Kasaragod Railway Station is a major railway station that serves the Kasaragod Town in the Kasaragod District of Kerala.

Kulur is located in the Chikmagalur district of Karnataka. Bengaluru, the capital city of Karnataka is located at a distance of 292 km from Kulur. It has a very small population of 1,884 people and 402 residential houses. This town is surrounded by the Shimoga and Chikmagalur districts. The cities that are close to it include Karkala, Tarikere, Shimoga and Chikmagalur.
