About Kattumavadi


Kattumavadi is a serene village near the seashore; bordering pudukkotai and Thanjavur. Fishing and agriculture forms the main occupation of the people living in this village. Being a junction that connects three main district routes, Pudukottai, Thanjaur and Ramanathapuram, Kattumavadi is a popular stopover for tourists who pass through this route. The Government Salt factory in the village also brings in people from the neighbouring towns and villages to Kattumavadi.

Being a small village there is not much options available for accommodation. Travellers can lodge at Thanjavur. Some of the hotels available there are Raja House, Station Road, Thanjavur (Tariff – Rs.1,800), Kasi Lodge and Ashok Lodge (Rs,500 onwards)

As it is a small village there is no specific festivals celebrated here. The Sri Azhiya Mozhi Amman Temple’s festival during the Thai Month usually brings in people from neighbouring villages.

Tamil is the local language spoken here.

There is no railway station near to Kattumavadi has no railway station nearby. The nearest railway station is the Thanjavur Rail Way Station (66kms).
