A town and a Municipality in Theni district of Tamil Nadu, Periyakulam lies at the foothills of the Western Ghats bordering on Kerala. The town is also known as the ‘Mango City’ as a major share of the mangoes produced in the state comes from this town. Located on the 'Varaha' river, Periyakulam is sometimes called ‘pi City’ forit’s famous sweet pi. The town gets its sweet water from the Berijam Lake in Kodaikanal.
