The town Kazipet derives its name from a Sufi saint named Syed Shah Afzal Biabani who was a Kazi during the British regime. It is one of the tri-cities of Warangal-Hanamakonda-Kazipet in Andhra Pradesh. Kazipet also happens to be an important railway junction, a connecting link to North India. The region is known for its religious diversity. Warangal, Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Khammam are the cities nearby Kazipet.
