Kammam is the headquarter of the Khammam district located in the South Indian/newly formed state of Telangana at a distance of 193 km from Hyderabad. The city derived its name from “Kambam Mettu” named after the Narsimhadri temple, later called 'Stamba Sikhari'. The city lies on the banks of the river Munneru, which is the tributary of Krishna river.
