About Kollam


Kollam is an old port town which is situated on the coast of the Arabian Sea. It is well known for its rich store of cashew nut, spice and the famous Ashtamudi Lake which is the second largest in Kerala. Kollam was once the capital of Venad.

Events in Kollam
Kollam hosts a number of events throughout the year. Starting from the Kollam Pooram which is one of the most colourful ten days festivals in Kerala, it is followed by Parippalli Gajamela which is again 10 days annual festival of the Kodimoottil Sree Bhagavathi Temple; this is celebrated in the month of February and March. The procession is completed by decorated elephants and women in traditional attire holding lighted lamps.

Coyalmannam is a small village located in the South Indian state of Kerala. The town is a part of the Palakkad district. The district headquarters, Palakkad, is located at a distance of 27 km.
